Hush
By TINA LOUISE

Seduce me with your words,
Verbs draped across my breasts,
Suggest--
anything.
just suggest
Murmur meanderings into my neck,
Wreck mediocrity with a subtext,
Hex spells upon me,
Free spirit with prose,
Expose tongue twisters to my toes,
So I can feel your wet wordy lap,
Tap ten digital code rap,
Sap soaked in your graffiti,
Defeat me, shout out,
Doubt me with your mouth.

Make me from your song,
Long, longing belonging here,
Near where I can hear,
Sheer seduction as you satiate,
Wait --
please
just wait
Tense, thriller panting,
Chanting rhythmic rhymes dancing,
Entrancing passion advancing,
Chancing whispers light breeze,
Tease lips atop lips as they move,
Smooth over eachother,
Smother the world outside,
Slide into the library of us,
Hush.

Our Own
By ADAM ENGEL

They can count you on their fingers
but won't bother
though this is the digital
epoch of fingers spiders creepy crawlers
watch them crawl the creepy creep
across the kitchen floor
ten ten ten ten ten
over and over
your head is meanngless

they won't hear you
they won't see you
they're autistic
and they're in control
it's maddening, I know
but it's the way of things
and they're our own

my what big guns you have
is that battalion REALLY yours?
they can't answer
they won't bother
all the money in the world
to them
is merely
all the money in the world
enough to drive a
thinking feeling breathing one
insane
but see what good THAT'll do
they'll
walk right through you
as they look right through you
without knowing feeling smelling hearing
sensing you in any way

they won't hear you
they won't see you
they're autistic
and they're in control
it's maddening, I know
but it's the way of things
and they're our own

they don't know who they are
why bother counting YOU?
after all
a finger is a finger and a rock a human tree
animals and paper planes light up the sky
with rocket blood storm cataracts
why not bark at skyscrapers and genuflect to Baal
the toenail
you won at the Fair last 1976
and flushed days later
cause he ate too much you fed him bread the
alligators in the sewer ate the New York Mets
the artichoke artisanal banana mission fig
all play together in this Cosey Island of the mine.

They can't see you
they won't hear you
they're autistic
and they're in control
it's maddening I know
but it's the way of things
and they're our own

You can't leave
"away" is gone forever
blood bombardment only game in town
they own the team
residual rights to recollection
every game you've seen
(I hope you saved your ticket stubs;
come tax time you'll need proof)
you're thinking "I can reason"
you're hoping to appease
it's like that "Twilight Zone"
when Li'l Opie wrecked the planet
with his evil childish bad seed mind
wished to "the corn field" any adult
whose stomach disagreed
with peanut butter hamburgers and icecream
What's in the cornfield?
you ask though you
don't really want to know

They can't see you
they won't hear you
they're autistic
and they're in control
it's maddening I know
but it's the way of things
and they're our own

You don't want to think about anything because they know
when you're not thinking
their thoughts
they know
and they don't like it.
If you're not thinking their thoughts
whose thoughts are you thinkng why?
If you're not thinking their thoughts
maybe you HATE THEM
maybe YOU WANT THEM GONE
maybe you DON'T WANT THEM BACK AGAIN EVER
this upsets them
though they can't see or hear or count you
they want you to love them always or be dead
love them like you've never loved anyone ever
or be dead
They can't see you
they won't hear you
they're autistic
and they're in control
It's maddening, I know
but it's our only all

the only thing of which
we can be absolutely certain
is the absolute power
of our own
